Proudly supported by Q Music, The Courier-Mail, 612 ABC Brisbane and ABC Local Radio Queensland, the Queensland Music Awards is a state-wide search for Queensland’s best and most innovative songwriters and musicians.
The Queensland Music Awards is a step up from its previous incarnation as the Q Song Awards. The new look and format will broaden the focus of the awards with a host of new categories and public involvement, thereby directing the spotlight onto Queensland artists, awarding excellence in songwriting and musicianship.
From 2006 – 2010 the Q Song Awards received close to 8000 entries and highlighted some fantastic talent including winners such as Kate Miller-Heidke, Kev Carmody, The Grates, Hungry Kids of Hungary, Emma-Louise, My Fiction, The John Steel Singers and many more.
The awards ceremony has grown to be the largest of its kind in Queensland with approximately 750 music industry identities and music fans in attendance each year. Special guest presenters and live performances from winners and finalists provide entertainment around the announcement of each years winners.
This year the Queensland Music Awards ceremony will be held on the 16th August, 2011 at the Old Museum.
