NOT JUST FOR NERDS , THE 2011 IDEAS FESTIVAL IS A CONVERSATION STARTER.
Presented by Arts Queensland in partnership with the State Library of Queensland, the 2011 Ideas Festival will run from 19-22 May and will focus on our state’s communities: their unique character, resilience, and versatility. The Festival provides an outlet to challenge thoughts and behaviours and share experiences, particularly in the wake of the natural disasters that have been a part of Queensland’s reality in the beginning of 2011.
Is peak soil more pressing than peak oil? Should we weather the weather or just move out? Can you find real love in virtual environments? Should governments be responsible for our happiness?
For the first time, the Festival presents not only a vibrant public offering of speakers, workshops, exhibitions and online resources, but also four new elements:
- Dedicated programs for both primary and secondary school students
- A Fringe Festival to explore ideas not suitable for dinner table conversation
- Projects with government departments to produce policy innovation
- A strengthened focus on regional participation, through programming running in two sites across Queensland.
Despite the recent weather that has ravaged the Sunshine State, this is one festival that does not require gumboots. Join us online and onsite for Ideas Festival 2011.
