a new musical work by Linsey Pollak
Take an unforgettable sonic journey through haunting, evocative soundscapes and funky sax quintet grooves when Linsey Pollak brings his new work to the stage.
Composed for 14 different variations of single reed instruments, Breath on a Single Reed features hybrid wind instruments including the bass clarini Crow, made from Crows Ash, as well as narrow bore bass clarinets made from glass.
These instruments use single cane reeds as the sound source and will be brought to life by Australia’s most acclaimed musicians, Ric Halstead, Brendan Hook, Rebecca Craner, Diana Tolmie, Linsey Pollak, accompanied by percussionist Tunji Beier.
“Linsey Pollak is one of Australia’s most brilliant and under-rated composer/musicians. He is wildly innovative in the use of instruments but never lets his experimentation get in the way of the musicality of a work.”
The Courier Mail, Brisbane
“Pollak’s creativity shines…combining comedy and music making.”
